Reflective Practice

I am engaged in a professional learning activity called Reflective Practice.  This challenges me to critically reflect on my own teaching, and set goals for new ways to improve student outcomes in the area of critical and creative thinking.

I completed my school–based research and presentation on the area that was identified in Reflective Practice.  My question was: How effective are Ranking Ladders in promoting critical and creative thinking in my classroom?

I taught an initial introductory lesson on Ranking Ladders, and then incorporated the use of Ranking Ladders into my existing units of work to extend the learners’ higher order thinking.

I have included a one page summary of my findings which shows my reflections on the use of Ranking Ladders in the classroom.

In the future I will conduct the same research but change the graphic organiser, guided by Barrie Bennet's new book Graphic Intelligence.

The Ranking Ladder encourages higher order thinking in learners.
